World renowned, a high profile partner for the Gipsy Moth IV project.

Corum Presentation

Corum, who celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is one of the world’s most respected and innovative Swiss watchmakers.  Its long standing association with sailing has inspired the company to become a ‘Global Partner’.

The crew will be using traditional navigation techniques during the voyage, and to assist with safe passage the project team felt it was very important to have an accurate and reliable timepiece onboard the yacht.  Corum has far exceeded this requirement by very generously donating a substantial amount towards the project. Furthermore, to commemorate the second circumnavigation and the 40th anniversary, Corum have commissioned the design and production of a new and unique 18ct Gipsy Moth IV timepiece. This ‘Limited Edition’ 18ct gold timepiece will be made available through selected retailers around the world later this year and is certain to become a collector’s item.

The exclusive timepiece will also come with a certificate that entitles the owner to sail aboard Gipsy Moth IV. For each watch sold a percentage of the profits will go to supporting young people on the voyage.

Steve Ramsay, Corum Managing Director found out about the Gipsy Moth project through Benzies of Cowes (the Cowes retail outlet for Corum watches) and couldn’t wait to get in touch with the UKSA to find out how Corum Watches could help. Corum have a keen nautical interest having sponsored the Admirals Cup for several years and after meeting with the UKSA, Steve was keen to put a proposal together and share the good news with his colleagues in Switzerland.

A quote from Steve Ramsay,
"We were very interested in the GMIV project and after only two meetings with David Green, we agreed to become the Global Official Timekeeper to the project. Why? It was simple, the set of values for both our brand and the project, run in parallel; Eclectic, Heroic, Heritage, Design and above all, a spirit of daring to be different"
