Isle of Wight Microsite > Isle of the Wight Microsite Cowes Waterfront

|
project is a regeneration programme for the whole Medina Valley, which will create jobs, attract investment and provide new facilities for Cowes, East Cowes and Newport Harbour. The project is run by a partnership between SEEDA (the South East England Development Agency), the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership, the Isle of Wight Council and English Partnerships. The initiative centres on the Island’s strong reputation in the marine and composites industries, and aims to build on this to develop the Island’s economy and provide more opportunities for local businesses and the people living here. The redevelopment of East Cowes town centre aims to put the heart back into the area by providing community services as well as retail and leisure facilities. There are also plans for a ‘Marine Experience’ which will celebrate the Island’s strong maritime links, as well as displaying famous boats such as Ellen Macarthur’s ‘Kingfisher’ and Gipsy Moth IV when she returns from her global voyage.Visit the website www.coweswaterfront.co.uk for more information.
