Anna Symcox - Gipsy Moth IV PR Manager Dewi Thomas - Global Voyage Coordinator

Anna is responsible for promoting the Gipsy Moth project around the world and has been involved in the project from the beginning.

Anna liaises with the media and organises events to generate sponsorship and interest in the Gipsy Moth Project.

Dewi Thomas

Dewi is the global voyage coordinator and responsible for the safety and logistics of the voyage, skipper and crew selection and training, Dewi is a Yachtmaster Ocean examiner and coaches instructors for the RYA. Dewi is married with 2 children, previously he was an engineering officer in the RAF but now runs his own leadership management and team building company. Dewi has been truly inspired by the voyage.

 
David Green - Global Project Manager  
David Green Very much the driving force behind the restoration of Gipsy Moth IV and her forthcoming voyage around the world, David Green has been the motivation and success behind the project’s fundraising, and vision.

Dr Andrew Eccleston - Weather and Meteorology Conrad Humphreys - Oceans Advisor
Andrew Eccleston

Andrew, from the University of Plymouth, has joined the team as our Meteorologist.

Ex Vendee Globe and BT Race Skipper, world-class British yachtsman Conrad Humphreys, who has extensive knowledge of the world's toughest oceans, joins the team as our Oceans Advisor.

Chris Avery - Education Dr Alex Nimo Smith - Oceanographer

With 35 years experience in education, Chris is our education expert, and has spearheaded the team responsible for the educational resources.

From Plymouth University Oceanography Department, Alex joins the project as our Oceanographer.

Tim Earl - Project Naturalist Nicolas Popov - Marine Biology
An International Wildlife Tour leader and leading published ornithologist, Tim joins the project as our official Naturalist. Tim will be helping with species identification as the voyage progresses.

Nicolas has spent the last 20 years taking young people on expeditions linked to conservation research and enviromental education programmes.

Professor David MacDonald - Wildlife Conservation John Walsh - Project Refit Manager

Director of the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at Oxford University, David will be assisting us with Ecological and Wildlife topics.

As Project Refit Manager, John Walsh is our expert on materials and equipment being used to power the boat around the world and sustain life onboard.

Richard Baggett - Senior Skipper  
Richard is a Yachtmaster instructor who has been sailing since he was a child; he has worked onboard classic and traditional yachts including Creole and Windrose. Richard is married with 2 children. He is the lead skipper for the voyage and has project managed the vessel through refit, trial sails and the preparation for its global voyage. He is looking forward to starting the voyage and putting Gipsy Moth IV through her paces. Richard's patient attitude will put the young crew members at ease and ensure the young people onboard achieve the most out of the voyage.
